Day 2 Exit stage left – Cycling the Danube
Now the weather gods have finish trying to drown us and the real gods have stopped trying to frighten us and the sat nav stopped trying to kill us it’s time to get on with the serious business of having fun.
After breakfast at my new favourite coffee shop (Coffee Fellowes) we set off to cover the remaking 150 miles in the van.
After dumping the van off here we eagerly unpacked the bikes and made our way to the start. Super excited to be right here and right now.
After yet another coffee we made our way, it was not a good start cobbles the tourists nightmare and a very steep downhill cobbled section! We were hoping that it would improve …. and quick.
A section was closed! These are all things you get to expect with cycle paths, it soon sorted itself out.
Almost immediately we leave Germany and enter Austria Wendys first border crossing.
As soon as we entered Austria the signage was fantastic and easy to follow but how difficult could it be to follow a river?
There was the occasional skirmish onto roads where the route is being fixed but for the most part smooth traffic free routes.
We found a nice campsite for the evening after 50 miles so we are now 50 miles ahead of schedule.
