The older I get the faster I was

My favourite Sidi shoes in my racing days
My favourite Sidi shoes in my racing days when I was quick, or was I?

As I get older the speed slides off me like shit off of a shovel, but is it a case of use it or lose it?

According to Joe Friel it is …..

I have made the conscious decision to do more of the cycling that I enjoy and less of what I don’t, so training really has taken a back seat whereas enjoying cycling is firmly on the front foot I am enjoying my bike more than ever.

Cleats of my favourite racing sidi shoes they still fit perfectly and are comfortable

I have lost a good minute off of my 10 mile time trial time against last year so I wonder how much of this is age and how much is not training?

Joe Friel has made a study and indications are that it’s a case of use it or lose it.

Guess what? Training works!

My old Bob Jackson in my loft either I have shrunk or we used to have our saddles a lot lower back in the day

I am now 3 minutes slower than as a junior so there is no getting that back, but perhaps I can gain back the minute if I am prepared to train again.
