Our idea of Crazy

First outing on the Thorn Tandem
First outing on the Thorn Tandem

We have an addition to the Family a Thorn Raven Twin Tandem.

Enjoying my Touring very much it seemed like a good idea to try tandem touring.

Let’s see  how we got on ………

Without too much thought or discussion (or even any idea where we are going to store it) it was decided that we were to buy a Tandem, not just any old Tandem but the best Tandem we could get our track  mitts on.

After much research it would seem that the Tandem of choice is built by Thorn Cycles based at SJS Cycles in Bridgewater.

We made an appointment and made the 7 hour trek (West Country roads) and met with the resident Tandem wizard and designer Andy Blance we had a fitting and ordered the finest touring tandem we could dream of.

We had been left a little bit of money from my old Dads estate not a lot but enough to make the purchase a little easier. Now we should of spent the money more wisely but that’s not what the old man would have wanted he would have of wanted us to do something crazy.

Eleventy Million years later the Tandem was ready to pick up (the paint choice proving difficult and Andy’s eye for detail lead it to being returned).
